"Being a member of APPCA is being a member of the most professional personal chef organization in the world...and the most supportive. It reminds me of the Verizon Wireless TV commercial that shows the person walking out of a building on their cell phone, into the arms of hundreds of supporters standing behind them to make certain they have everything they need to succeed. That's what APPCA does for each of its members."

The American Culinary Federation seals partnership with the American Personal & Private Chef Association to develop Personal Chef Certification

LAS VEGAS, August 2002 – Last week, at the annual convention of the American Culinary Federation (ACF), ACF’s President Edward Leonard announced plans for the development of a Personal Chef Certification program that meets the accreditation standards of the ACF, the nation's oldest and largest culinary accrediting agency. In a ceremony held during the general session, President Leonard and American Personal & Private Chef Association (APPCA) Founder and Executive Director, Candy Wallace, signed an agreement to partner in the new certification venture as part of the ACF's overall strategy to develop non-traditional career paths within the culinary profession.

"This is tremendously gratifying," said Ms. Wallace, "we have worked for over seven years towards recognition of the Personal Chef as an accepted and legitimate career within the culinary industry. We felt strongly that Personal Chef certification had to be validated by the established culinary community to be truly meaningful. We are so pleased to have reached both of these goals.”

Personal Chefs are chef entrepreneurs who provide cooking services in the homes of a variety of clients, from time-challenged singles, couples, and families, to those with special dietary needs and the elderly.

The American Personal & Private Chef Association has provided Personal Chef training and support services to the rapidly growing industry since 1996, and has trained more than 3,000 Personal Chefs.
